WordPress 6.0 was released on 24 May
2022, and it comes with 600+ updates and 600+ bug fixes. They include more
style variations, accessibility options, and improved information architecture.
What’s New in WordPress 6.0
WordPress 6.0 is the second major release in 2022, after January's 5.9 version. With more than 600 updates and 600 bug fixes, we’ll cover some of its key improvements, which include:
Style Switcher – switch between
different style variations within a single theme, using a different color
palette, font, and layout for each style.
Expanded template options – new
template types in the block editor, block patterns, and new upgrades for the
quick inserter.
Writing improvements – select text
across multiple blocks and quickly create and customize buttons.
New design tools – new color panel
design, transparency options, border control, and gap controls in the Gallery
block. Also, new gaps, margins, and typography options in the Group block.
New blocks – previously-integrated
blocks are now split into different blocks for more customization
possibilities. For example, the Post Author block is now replaced by the Post
Author Biography and Avatar blocks. Plus, container blocks can be transformed
into another layout variation with a single click.
List View enhancements – it will
appear collapsed by default, and when expanded, it will automatically direct
you to the selected block. This is very handy when working on content with
complex structure.
Block Locking – lock a block to
prevent movement or deletion.
Accessibility – 50 accessibility
enhancements for making WordPress more inclusive.
Update your site to WordPress 6.0 as
soon as possible to enjoy these updates and protect your site from potential
vulnerabilities. Before updating it, make sure to back up your site first or
use a WordPress staging environment to test this version safely.
